William Osula: A Rising Star

Born on August 4, 2003, William Osula is a Danish professional footballer who has quickly emerged as a formidable forward. His journey has taken him from the youth academies of Denmark to the competitive pitches of English football, where his powerful play and knack for scoring have begun to shine.

Early Steps: From Copenhagen to Sheffield

Osula's foundational years in football were spent with Danish club F.C. Copenhagen, a renowned incubator for young talent. It was there he honed his early skills before making a significant move in 2018 to the youth academy of Sheffield United, a prominent club in English football.

His dedication paid off, and on July 13, 2021, Osula signed his first professional contract with the Yorkshire club. The following year, on March 16, 2022, he made his first-team debut, stepping onto the pitch as a late substitute in a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Blackpool.

Making a Mark: Loan Spell at Derby County

To gain crucial senior experience, Osula embarked on a season-long loan to Derby County on September 1, 2022. This move proved to be a pivotal moment in his young career, allowing him to experience regular first-team football.

Just over a month later, on October 15, 2022, Osula truly announced himself. After several substitute appearances, he earned his first start for Derby and celebrated by scoring two goals in a commanding 3–0 victory against Accrington Stanley. It was a clear sign of his potential.

Return to the Blades and Breakthrough Goals

Upon his return from loan, Osula continued to push for a place in the Sheffield United senior squad. The waiting game ended dramatically on January 6, 2024, when he delivered a memorable performance.

In an FA Cup clash against Gillingham, Osula scored not one, but two goals, contributing significantly to Sheffield United's dominant 4–0 victory. These were his first senior goals for the club he had joined as a youth player—a special moment in his blossoming career.

The Premier League Beckons: Joining Newcastle United

Osula's impressive development did not go unnoticed. On August 8, 2024, Premier League giants Newcastle United announced his signing in a significant transfer deal, reportedly worth £10 million, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons.

His Premier League debut for the Magpies came on September 21, as he featured as a substitute in a 3–1 loss to Fulham. It was his first taste of football at the highest level of English club competition.

Osula quickly found his scoring boots for Newcastle, netting his first goal for the club in the FA Cup third round on January 12, 2025, in a 3–1 win over Bromley. Just a few months later, on April 26, 2025, he scored his inaugural Premier League goal, heading in a corner during a 3–0 triumph against Ipswich Town.

He continued to make an impact, famously scoring an 88th-minute equalizer against reigning champions Liverpool at the start of the 2025–26 season, although Newcastle ultimately lost the dramatic match. On March 4, 2026, he delivered a thrilling 90th-minute winning goal in a crucial home victory against Manchester United, showcasing his clutch ability.

International Prospects

Osula's heritage makes his international career particularly intriguing. Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, he moved to England at a young age, granting him eligibility to represent Denmark, England, France, or Nigeria. He also holds both British and French nationalities.

He began his international journey with Denmark, receiving a call-up to a U19 training camp in February 2022. He subsequently debuted for the Denmark U19s in a friendly match against Hungary U19s that same month.

His rapid progress led to a call-up to the senior Danish national team in November 2025 for World Cup qualification matches. Unfortunately, an injury forced him to withdraw from the squad, postponing his senior international debut and highlighting the fine margins in professional sports.

Career Highlight: EFL Cup Winner

Among his early career achievements, Osula counts an EFL Cup winner's medal for the 2024–25 season, a testament to his contribution to Newcastle United's success in that competition.
