Controversies and Scrutiny
The Tripura Incident
Saayoni's political campaigning has not been without incident. In November 2021, while campaigning for the Trinamool Congress in Agartala, she was arrested by the Tripura Police. She faced serious charges, including attempt to murder and promoting enmity between groups.
These charges stemmed from allegations that she attempted to drive her vehicle into a gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party supporters at a rally attended by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. The First Information Report also claimed she and her associates used offensive language, threw stones, and caused panic, resulting in minor injuries to some BJP workers.
A Resurfaced Tweet
An old tweet from Ghosh's Twitter account, dating back to February 2015, resurfaced in 2021 and ignited significant controversy. The tweet, posted around Maha Shivratri, featured an image of a condom on a Shivling, a sacred Hindu symbol.

In January 2024, Saayoni found herself in another political squall after a public meeting in Bardhaman. She claimed that Mamata Banerjee had founded the historic Curzon Gate as part of development initiatives, a statement that was widely criticized by opposing political leaders given the monument's historical origins.
