Short-form content

Short-form content, also known as short-form video, is a short video, or short section of a video — often made from various sources such as films (both professional and amateur), television shows, and entertainment videos — which are usually uploaded to the Internet through short-form video platforms such as YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Vine), and Facebook Reels. Short-form content became popular among young people, gaining some popularity in the 2010s before becoming more mainstream in the 2020s.

Short-form content

Most short-form content and short-form videos today are found as video clips uploaded in the vertical format. They are up to a few minutes long (e.g., up to three minutes for YouTube Shorts content). Such content can include snippets of videos taken out of context and turned into memes. It can also be used to attract the public to the uploader's other accounts or their long-form content. A subsection of short-form content includes sludge content, which are split-screen) videos that typically includes video clips of movies and shows played alongside other videos.
